August 15-27 (back)

We arrived in Australia after a wonderful 30 hrs of travel.  Rockhampton has laid out the welcome mat and we all love training here.  This site is, without question, one of the best training sites in the world.  It is an incredible story of how Canada ended up training here.  The Australians are staying in Bundiburg, 400 km south, on a rowing course in the middle of a swamp 30-50km (the reports vary) away from where they are sleeping.  They might be in the worst site in Australia, and I have heard reports that some people in Australian Rowing are thinking it could cost them medals.

We have a brand new buoyed course and a brand new boathouse to store our boats in. It could not be a better situation.  Every morning it is dead calm, the wind picks up at about eleven, and then dies off again at 4pm.
